Eco-friendly Products Do Wonders

There are many reasons why you should use eco-friendly products. These items use non-toxic ingredients, which are not only good for your health but for the environment too. Here is why:
1.Farmers who grow organic produce do not use pesticides, herbicides or artificial fertilizer. This means that the produce has not absorbed any harmful chemicals, which in turn you would either absorb or ingest. This is really good news for your overall health. Plus, the environment also benefits from this as pesticides and herbicides are not draining off into our water ways.
2.Organic produce uses less natural resources while providing more long-term viability of the product. As such, this produce is safe and yet it is able to meet the same high demands that you would require from any produce product.
3.Traditional farming methods also put a strain on our environment. This strain is becoming more and more unbearable. As such, it is becoming very important that we manage our natural resources better.

So, as you can see, using natural products pose less of a health risk. Therefore, it only makes sense to use these products. Of course, you really do need to look at these things for yourself so that you can make well informed decisions. This should be a good reason for you to want to start using eco-friendly products in your home. Even if you only slowly convert your home to the use of these products, you will still be helping yourself and the environment at the same time.

Banning all foreign bees

The government has called for an immediate ban on all bee imports. This is being done in order to prevent more of this devastating mystery disease from entering into the United States. The disease is known as colony collapse disorder and is feared by bee farmers as well as the government because it has wiped out a lot of bees in both the United States and Europe.

Australia is opposing this ban because they say that they are dependent upon these sales. The government believe that this is not risking though. This is because importing bees is not only harming the honey industry, but it is also harming any crop or fruit that is depedent upon bee pollination. Continuing to import these bees will only ruin these crops. With this in mind, the government is having a difficult time understanding why Australia has not taken the precaution of banning bee imports from entering into their country.

In my opinion, this is one of the few times that I will agree with the government. Usually I'm opposed to a lot of the things that they are doing, but that's another blog entry, but here I don't honestly see that there is anything else that can be done here. Without bees we're going to be in a world of hurt.

CO2 brought closer to home...

The Antartic Ocean has so much CO2 in it that it cannot absorb any more and thus the CO2 will stay in the atmosphere now to warm up the planet. This is very alarming because this is something that was not suppose to happen for decades yet. It is believed that increased winds over the last half-century are to blame. Of course, factories, coal-fired power plants and petroleum-powered motor vehicle exhaust do not help matters either. Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution the world's oceans have had to absorb a quarter of the 500 billion tons of carbon that has been emitted into the atmosphere by humans.

If this does not serve as a wake up call for us as humans, what will?!?!

Why put CO2 into the air whenever it can be buried

Throughout the world people are trying to figure out how to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions. This is because these things are capable of changing the climate. One thing these people are trying to do is capture CO2 before it enters into the atmosphere. By compressing it into a liquid and pumping it underground it may do a lot less harm. This is important because 33 billion tons of CO2 are created each year worldwide - 8.8 billion tons of it comes from the United States alone. Of course, this has created a lot of unhealthy changes in our atmosphere. A lot of people are recognizing this today but yet this problem remains unsolved because of how difficult it is. Having this knowledge is the first step that must be taken the next step is stopping the creation of any new power plants that are not carbon- sequestration- ready. There does need to be a lot more research done in this area before this can happen though. However the new laws and regulations are quite helpful in steering people in this direction. Currently there is legislation under review in Congress about this issue. Hopefully it will be the first step in aggressively tackling this issue. This time it needs to go past talking and be implemented though. Otherwise people are going to lose faith and we will get nowhere it managing this CO2 issue.

We're excited

I'm always complaining about just how much junk mail we get every week. Plus I tend to print a lot of stuff out when I'm working on my business stuff. It's just easier to read through that way since I can take it with me to read whenever I have a minute or two while we're out and about. Add to all that the amount of paper we use whenever we're doing homeschool projects and that really adds up to a lot of trees being butchered each week. I was hoping that there would be a way in which to resolve this issue in a humane way. Until last night I'd only wished that we could recycle paper. Now I've found a way to do so. The Catholic church just down the street from us recycles paper. So, now I've started collecting paper to walk down there once a week. This will allow me not to feel so bad about the trees we're using :D

Do you want to know how to truly impact the Earth?

Are you really concerned about the environment? Are you ready to go green? Then you should know that there is a product that I studied up upon before even purchasing it. It is an easy way in which you can turn all of your cleaning products green in 1 single step and while doing so, you can also receive these other great benefits too:
  1. You will be able to keep 108 pounds of packaging waste out of the landfills.
  2. You will be able to eliminate 248 lbs of greenhouse gas.
  3. Your purchase will be the equivalent of planting 10 trees.

So, as you can see, with this product you can have a DEEP impact upon the Earth. I did it! Will you?

Welcome!

Recently my daughter and I have began to grow even more conscious about living green. I have also become more conscious about my health as I have some issues that concern me. As you can imagine, this means that there are a lot of changes taking place in our household. In this blog I'd like to share how this hippy lovin' tree hugger is making changes for the better. This will include things from my life as well as things I find in the news and elsewhere. Welcome to my journey!
